18 year old James Wordsworth, well educated young aristocrat, signed up without his parents consent and much to his mother's dismay. Keen interest in poetry and literature and speaks several lanugages. Learnt the technique of lip-reading as a child from his Aunt Beatrice who was born completely deaf sue to syphillis. Wants to travel, believes he will survive the war (partly owing to his position in society) and be inspired like the famous war poets of WWI such as Sassoon and Wilberforce. James is young, intelligent, immature and a bit snooty. Is likely to find the realities of war much harsher than he had imagnied and will either grow up and adapt quickly or go to pieces.

Edge 1: Languages and interpretation. Favourite languages, Latin, French, Russian and German. Broad knowledge of a range of other lanuguages. Can also Lip-read (Is this too much?) Edge 2: Aristocrat, can circulate in upper eschelons of society, would be supported by Etonian old boy network in the army.

Issue: Hates his overbearing father, Henry Wordsworth, who he views as a coward for bullying him and his mother. Henry also never fought in WWI. James hopes to both escape and show up his father by going to war but is probably petulant rather than defiant. Doesn't like to be critisiced. Not very mature. (Plenty of room for char development here. Don't want to be playing a dick for the whole campaign!)
