Dreams - Stacey Rose

S;tacey Rose; was a high-flying business executive; a successful "strategist" with her own consultancy at 33 years old. Then one day a shard of power from a supernatural being fused into her. She immediately cast off the shackles of working for soulless corporations and turned to the world of dreams, dream interpretation and lucid dreaming `- the control of your own dreams. A world more powerful than any virtual reality video game one can imagine.

The shard only recently passed into its new human host, even though it is ancient, dating back almost to the beginning of life.

In a sense, when the story begins, Stacey was quite literally born yesterday so far as becoming a noble. It explains why she will has no idea how to act or what to do.

The reason her realm is so low is because the chancel is not strictly where her power lies. The dreamworld is on the fringes of the chancel and her power in its centre (where everyone else hangs out) is limited.

Notes from Dreams herself

All humans have them, except in very rare circumstances. As such my domain is vast and in no danger of disappearing, but my direct impact on the real world is minimal.

Dreams are a way of testing of the system to check everything is still working. It is like accessing the CMOS of the Human mind. Can give other Nobles access to promote their powers `- this is a proposition to be seriously explored. As Traps offers his services so too can Dreams, except with more ethical considerations as to what power concepts are being promoted to mankind `- Something to discuss with Psionics. A new introduction to prepare the world.

The common useful purpose of dreams is to enable subconscious thought and problem solving. Can pick up on signals that the awake mind would not normally notice. It is well known that dreams are representative or they can often directly reflect current experiences of the dreamer. In short, healthy dreams, good and bad, lead to healthy human lives. A way of processing the stress of waking life.

There is no particular link between dreams and feeling rested, other than a dream of a tranquil ocean is better than no dream at all. Even nightmares do not cancel the restfulness of REM sleep, however, the consequence can be waking up in a panic which obviously interrupts restful sleep.

To the question of "do animals dream?" the answer is obviously yes. Its just that they are somewhat boring. But humans evolved from animals and at some point switched to consciousness. The power of dreams truly began to take form that day.

At what point does a fetus begin to dream? And what do they dream about? This is the true start of human consciousness, when a child is born in its own dream, preparing it for future life. Pregnant women also have similar experiences, and the more traumatic the dream labour is, the easier it is in reality. It follows that actively dreaming unborns are the ones that will become great people. Artistic, creative, innovative, leaders that put their dreams into action. Conversely those that "daydream" and talk about greatness or are unnecessarily nostalgic rarely achieve all their goals.

To tap into the dreams of unborns is to truly see the pure nature of man. And it is a doorway that must be protected. I have flashbacks that suggest I may have been imprisoned in the dream of such an unborn (blind and deaf to its future reality) as I became curious to discover its secret. However, the force that kept me there, whatever overcame a master in her own domain, must be a fundamental danger to all nobles. Or was it simply punishment for my meddling? Too close to gaining access to the dreams of Nobles? Gods?
