W;heels; is a Technomancer, and serves as the group's Rigger, and a Decker of some skill.
As a young boy, Peter Bishop dreamed of breaking free of the poor quarters of London, and make a name for himself. The only way he saw the people around him doing that, was through a life of crime. He joined the local street gangs very young, where he met Jack Murphy.
At the age of 15, they joined a local group of Runners, believing they were ready for the 'big time'. Little did they know they were being used as cannon fodder. Peter got hit by a spell that fried his nervous system, leaving him mostly paralysed from the neck down. Jack saved his life, dragging him from the scene, and getting him home in a car he jacked from the street.
After about a year of depression, Peter became determined to make something of his life, even from a wheelchair. He realised that the only way he'd make a rep as a Runner was on the Matrix, and learned to deck.
Then, while on the Matrix, he realised that he was stuck. He and everyone else on the Matrix seemed to be unable to disconnect. He didn't know how long this lasted, but when he finally did disconnect, he realised that he had somehow learned a new way of cruising the Matrix, that didn't rely on software or hardware to access his old haunts. This phenomenon became recognised, and he and the others trapped on the 'trix that day became known as Technomancers.
Using these new skills, Peter learned to 'deck' (the name didn't seem accurate anymore, but it's the only one he knows) to the point he had a rep, and started approaching Runner groups again. However, as soon as he started trying to do big jobs, his disability was enough to put groups off. There were other deckers as good, and they could run if they needed to as well.
In order to set himself apart from other deckers, Peter bought some kit and collected a small army of drones. Armed with the skills of a rigger as well as a decker, he cast off his old ID, and now calling himself 'Wheels', he headed back into the Runner circles.
Now able to offer two services for one cut, he had a value that offset his immobility. His new hover-drone chair limited the direct effect of his quadraplegia, and he was able to Run for real.
On the Matrix, he goes by the name 'Rollerball', and is recognised by his personal icon, a simple quicksilver sphere, which morphs to take appropriate shapes as he executes his forms. Everything reflected in the surface of the sphere is stored in digital memory, for later perusal.
