L;eopold Kierkaard's; parents died in a fire when he was four years old. The fire claimed the house and almost every possession the family had, leaving young Leopold with a harsh future in an orphanage had not Leopold's father's good friend and fellow adventurer Kastiger von Delberz taken Leopold as his ward.

{=Leopold is played by Gustav=} Leopold grew up on the estate of Kastiger and ended up in a social position somewhere between the working servants and the true children of Kastiger. This didn't bother Leopold one bit though. Kastiger always treated almost like a son and that was good enough for Leopold to see Kastiger as his own dad. When Leopold was 14 Kastiger died in a riding accident and Kastiger's brother, Eckhardt, took over the estate, life made a slight turn for the worse for Leopold. His new master certainly did not treat Leopold as one of his own. There was a clear divide between Loepold and the rest of the family. He got on ok with Seigfred the second son and Luther youngest of the sons with whom he practiced fencing. But when Leopold had a chance he would escape to the forest where he would go hunting or practising his bow and arrow. Eckhardt tried to push Leopold into all kind of professions in the hope that he would start contribute to the household, but Leopold always returned to the forest.

At the age of 24 Leopold has now grown up to be a handsome if somewhat rugged man with long brown hair, green eyes, a a quiet and contemplating expression that from time to time breaks out in a big grin that lights up his whole face. He enjoys wearing simple clothes suitable for hunting but can often be seen in the proper clothes of the nobles when representing the Delberz. He is also accompanied by a large dog named Hunt.

At the start of The Enemy Within, Leopold has become more and more withdrawn and quiet. The people around him who care enough to notice knows that there is something on his mind, some trouble he can't shake. The servants talk of screams from his bedroom, as if he had nightmares and most have noticed that he spends more and more time in the forest.
