A more complete version of events will follow but it has been a while since we played so I thought I'd get the bare bones down first!

Colonel Greenwich Thingolt dies leaving Jame Falkus his diaries, maps and a letter of introduction to an old friend - the Count of Delberz.

James approachs the Von Delberz family only to discover that the Old Count is dead and his brother has taken his place.

The new count is given to flights of fancy however his youngest son - Luther persuades his father to invest in an expedition that he will accompany along with Leopold, a Ward of the family taken in by the old count, and Brock a dwarven bodyguard/retainer hired by Luther to annoy the rest of the family.

They retire to the Golden Goose, a local tavern, to discuss the possible expedition.

Meanwhile Magnus, son to the Von Delberz housekeeper and half brother to one of their balifs, returns to the town for some rest and recouperation from life in the capital (and to lie low until the fallout from his latest scam blows over). A childhood friend of Leo and Luther he recognises them in the tavern and joins their discussion.

Undecided about the which of the expeditions to embark upon (James has not had much time to read the diaries since the Colonel's death) they hear the town crier announca that the Crown Prince of Ostland seeks members form an expedition into the Grey mountains. This seems like a good idea as there will be no intial expenses on their part and this will prove to the Count that they are worth sponsoring. The Expedition leaves from Altdorf, the Capital, within a week.

The part packs and leaves for Altdorf the next morning after obtaining some money for expenses from the Count.

The Journey to Altdorf is initially uneventful they meet fellow travellers along the way. They Also encounter a quietly spoken bretonian bounty hunter, Etienne Nivard, and his retinue who are searching for a nobleman who caries the taint of Chaos - a sixth finger on his right hand. the nobleman's crimes are not discussed but they are told that he maybe travelling under the name Mittlemarch or Mystmarch.

After drinking late into the night the party wake with sore heads and a short ride into the capital. An hour into their journey and they can her the sound of a firearm discharging and on rounding a bend in the road come upon a horrifc sight. A coach has been attacked by bandits as the close in on the attackers they can make out the twisted forms of the assalients. Mutants!

The party makes short work of them. Amongst the wreckage they find the bodies of Werner and his daughters, the coachmen and the body of an unknown man. The body bears an unnerving simularity to Magnus and a fter a brief search of the body they find a letter detailing a substantial inheritance and documents to confirm that the person bearing the letter in Kastor Lieberung and may be used to collect the inheritance from a legal firm in Bogenhafan, a reasonably sized trading town further down the river Reik. They also find Herr Leiberung's cases of clothes and some texts on engineering and architecture and the coachmens pistols, Blunderbus and a reasonable quantity of powder and shot.

The party is trying to decide what would be the best course of action for the bodies (mutants and victims) and the coach when a group of road wardens arrive. After a short explination the party are free to go o their way. However Magnus firmly has his sights set on the inheritance and introduces himself to the roadwardens as Kastor Lieberung and names Kastors corpse as Magnus and that it should be returned to Delberz to be intured in the family plot - at the expense of the Von Delberz family.
